De winnaars van de "43RD NAACP Image Awards" zijn onlangs bekendgemaakt vanuit het historische Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Sanaa Latham, schermster uit de film Contagion en Anthony Macki, uit "Hurt Locker" en "Adjustment Bureau" organiseerden het twee uur durende evenement.

Enkele van de grootste namen in film, televisie en muziek verschenen, waaronder LL Cool J, Paula Patton, Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Williams, Jordin Sparks, Russell Hornsby, Keke Palmer, Corey Reynolds, Judge Greg Mathis, Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier, Holly Robinson Peete, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Cicely Tyson, Diahann Carroll, Archie Panjabi en Hill Harper met uitvoeringen van Jennifer Hudson, Lenny Kravitz, Jill Scott, Kirk Franklin en Ne-Yo.

Kirk Franklin was de grote winnaar voor de nacht voor Gospel die de Outstanding Gospel Album-prijs in ontvangst nam.

George Lucas ontving de NAACP Vanguard Award, Radio One / TV One oprichter Cathy Hughes ontving de NAACP Chairman's Award en The Founding Members of the Black Stuntmen's Association ontvingen de NAACP President's Award.

Het hoogtepunt van het evenement was een ontroerend eerbetoon aan Whitney Houston en alle andere sterren die zijn overleden sinds de laatste prijsuitreiking. Yolanda Adams speelde de krachtige hymne "I Love the Lord", oorspronkelijk geschreven door Isaac Watts maar beroemd gemaakt door Houston. Adams heeft het lied geweldig gedaan en het hele publiek verplaatst naar een staande ovatie.
